    Roland Hayes
    Board President

    Roland Hayes has been a proud member of the TxEA Board for over ten years. He believes in TxEA whole heartedly and feels that this is the only school in the Austin area that gives its community education. He works very hard to serve the academy in any way possible. Roland attended Langston University in Oklahoma, majoring in history and sociology. He then obtained his master’s degree in African American Studies from Michigan State University. Currently, Mr. Hayes is a professor of History and African American studies at Austin  Community College. 

    Earl Grant
    Treasurer

    Mr. Grant founded E&G Associates. Mr. Grant received his Master’s in Business Administration from Long Island University in Long Island New York, and undergraduate degree from Knoxville, Tennessee. He is the former CFO of the Austin Area Urban League and former IBM Employer. Additionally, Mr. Grant is a current board member of the TxEA and serves on the Finance Committee for People’s Funds. He is a husband of 22 years and a father of a 21 year old daughter and a 16 year old son. He is an active member of the R.O.C.K Ministries International of Austin. 

    Douglas Joiner
    Director

    Douglas Joiner Sr. was born in Elgin, Texas. He comes from a pretty big family so he knows the true definition of being a team player and making sure everyone benefits from the task at hand. He has poured back into Austin’s community in several different ways, and he is now retired from the State General Land Office. Douglas is a husband of 34 years and a father of 1 son and has been an active parent with TxEA for over 6 years. 

    Shatandrea Marshall
    Secretary

    Toni is an Austin native who is a graduate of Stephen F. Austin High School and continued her formal education at Austin Community College and Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, working  toward a degree in Sociology. Toni found the need to continue her education in the Cosmetology industry where she received her Professional Cosmetology training from Vogue Beauty College in Austin, Texas, and became licensed by the  State of Texas in April 1991. In February 2008, Toni opened her 2nd full service salon which is today known as T’s Sharper Stylez & Cutz, LLC. Toni continues to find ways to continue her growth in the industry. She also sponsors youth in the community through church, school, leagues, or individually to assist them in advancing in their education & personal  growth. 

    Shawna Berry-Session
    Director

    Shawna Berry-Session is a recent retiree of Austin Community College where she served a total of 23 years. Mrs. Sessions started in data entry, then transitioned to payroll, accounts payable, business studies, and ended her career in business management.
